Keep it Simple
When we first considered selling organic pomade, I had to ask myself, "What are people looking for in a hair product?".
Let's be honest. We've all looked in the mirror and thought, "Man, I need something to make my hair look better". So what do you do? You run to the store, find something that has a nice label and you try it out.
What's the result? Maybe you got some pomade that was too shiny, or not shiny enough. It had too much hold, or not enough hold. Maybe it got crunchy and worked itself out after wearing a hat. It's just hard to know what's right when there are so many options out there.
So, as I thought about this, I realized something: organic, oil-based pomade is as simple as it gets.
With just a few, quality ingredients, you can have a product that works great and feels even better in your hair. No more crunch, goo, or extra shiny residue. All you're left with is a pomade that will keep your hair styled all day, without any fuss.
Isn't that what we all really want?
Oil-Based vs. Water-Based Pomade
We all know that pomade is a hair-styling product. How that's accomplished differs slightly depending on what kind of pomade it is. As a broad stroke, we can classify pomade into two groups: Oil-Based and Water-Based.
- The main ingredient is typically petroleum, mineral oil, or petrolatum.
- It doesn't dry out, which means your hair can be reshaped throughout the day, but it's also a little more difficult to rinse out.
- It's typically made with fewer ingredients.
- The first ingredient is usually water.
- It can be rinsed out of your hair easily, but it also dries out or wares off throughout the day, especially if it gets wet.
- There are a wide variety of options for different holds and levels of shine.
As you can see, there are pros and cons with each option. However, we chose the route of oil-based pomades because of how simple and effective they are. Plus, when using organic ingredients, you get a product that nourishes your hair while still keeping it styled.
How to Use
Like I said, this is about as simple as it gets:
1. Get your hair slightly wet.
2. Take a dime sized amount (or more if needed), and work it in your hands until it melts.
3. Rub it through your hair.
4. Comb it into place.
5. Go on with your day.
What to Expect
There are a few things you can expect when using Out of Regs.
Our product is not going to lock your hair in place. If you're going for a killer mohawk, this isn't for you. You hair won't be an impenetrable fort.
Your hair is going to have a natural look. While some of our products may have more shine, you're not going to get a greaser look that lasts all day. It will have shine when it's wet (like your hair always does), but once it dries, it'll look like you don't have anything in it. Your hair will remain in place, and can easily be re-styled if it gets messed up for any reason.
Finally, Out of Regs pomade is going to stay in your hair until you wash it out. Workout, wear a hat, or go to sleep, and your hair will still be moldable until you hit the shower.
Give it a Shot
If you're new to the pomade game, or if you've been using product for decades, you're not going to be disappointed with Out of Regs. As long as you understand what you're purchasing, making the switch to organic, oil-based pomade will be worth it.
